SKATE PRIZE DRAWING WINNERS ANNOUNCED!   

The season-ending prize drawing was conducted at the 2010 Let's Play Hockey Expo on Saturday March 13 and the following associations were drawn to receive prizes:

1. Roseville 2. Prior Lake/Savage 3. Coon Rapids 4. St. Cloud 5. Crow River 6. Anoka 7. Champlin Park 8. Pine City 9. LaCrescent and 10. Waseca.

We will be contacting the association coordinators at each of those named above to coordinate the delivery of gifts. Many thanks to a handful of sponsors who donated prizes:

International Hockey Schools - Free Week of Summer Hockey Camp

2010 SKATE AWARD CERTIFICATES AND BAG TAGS ARE READY TO ROLL!

The new award certificates and bag tags presented to each SKATE 2010 qualifier are ready for shipment. If you haven't already, please notify us of the total number of qualifiers at your association. Also, please let us know if you have a SKATE RALLY planned for 2010.

S.K.A.T.E. is proud to acknowledge each of the youth hockey associations that have elected to participate in 2010 SKATE program .. emphasizing academic achievement and effort among youth hockey players. In alphabetical order they are as follows: Alexandria, Andover, Anoka, Armstrong/Cooper, Becker-Big Lake, Blaine, Bloomington Jefferson, Centennial, Champlin Park, Chisago Lakes, Coon Rapids, Crow River, Dodge County, Elk River, Fairmont, Hutchinson, LaCrescent, Luverne, Mankato, Minnetonka, North Branch, Northfield, North Metro, Park Rapids, Pine City, Redwood Falls, Rogers, Rosemount, Roseville, Sauk Rapids, Shakopee, Silver Bay, St. Cloud, St. Francis and Waseca.

The calendar timeline below provides a general outline of the timing for implementation of the S.K.A.T.E. program for youth hockey associations. The timing may vary due to variances in the beginning and end of the youth hockey seasons by state.

August - September:            

  • Gather information on how to implement the S.K.A.T.E. program
  • Recruit parent volunteers to serve as S.K.A.T.E. Coordinators for your association
  • Download S.K.A.T.E. forms from web site to personalize for your association. Note: S.K.A.T.E. trademarks prohibit use of name, logo and program without payment of registration fees. 
  • Begin registration process by having S.K.A.T.E. Coordinator make contact via e-mail to S.K.A.T.E. program office
  • Download S.K.A.T.E. registration forms and send to S.K.A.T.E. program office with payment

October - December:

 

  • Order collateral materials (e.g. posters, brochures, etc.) for use at local level
  • Coordinators recruit support from managers of individual teams
  • Coordinators distribute information to team managers. Note: Encourage coaches to emphasize academic responsibilities!
  • Coordinators post information on their local association websites, emphasizing qualification criteria
  • Coordinators communicate with team managers, provide them with promotional materials

January - February:  

         

  • Coordinators and team managers solicit local businesses for financial support and prizes
  • Coordinators communicate with team managers regarding team submission deadlines, qualification criteria, etc.
  • Deadline for Association Registration is February 15, 2009. 
  • Continue to update website with promotional materials
  • Continue to distribute materials to organizations upon registration

March - April:

 

  • Coordinators collect list of team rosters identifying individual qualifiers 
  • Coordinators communicate number of total qualifiers to S.K.A.T.E. office
  • Coordinators order Award Certificates and provide qualifier names for S.K.A.T.E. Sweepstakes 
  • Local Clubs and Associations host S.K.A.T.E. recognition and reward events
  • Coordinators contact local media with information on total qualifiers
  • Coordinators evaluate program
